We are excited to share news of another valuable addition to our growing local LoRa APRS network! A new iGate and Digipeater node, operating under the callsign 9W8SEN-10, is now operational, expanding coverage in a key residential and commercial area.
Located at Jalan Wui Lee Garden, 3rd Mile, this new node provides enhanced LoRa APRS coverage to that specific vicinity and its surrounding neighbourhoods. This deployment is a welcome step towards creating a more comprehensive and reliable digital communication infrastructure for amateur radio operators in the area.
The 9W8SEN-10 node functions as both an iGate, connecting local LoRa APRS traffic to the global APRS-IS internet network, and as a digipeater, relaying signals between stations that may not have direct line-of-sight. This dual capability significantly improves local packet delivery and network reach.
We extend our sincere gratitude to 9W8SEN for his dedication and contribution in setting up and deploying this important node. His effort directly benefits the local amateur radio community by improving network access in the 3rd Mile area.
The strength and resilience of our LoRa APRS network depend on the active participation and contribution of individual stations. Every new node, no matter how big or small, plays a crucial role in filling coverage gaps, providing redundancy, and making the network more robust for everyone.
We highly encourage other licensed amateur radio operators who are interested in LoRa APRS to consider deploying their own iGate or Digipeater nodes. It’s a fulfilling way to contribute to the hobby, learn about digital modes, and help build a vital communication resource for our community. Your contribution makes a tangible difference!
Thank you again to 9W8SEN for his valuable addition to the network. Let’s keep expanding LoRa APRS coverage together!
